In January, Troop 110's overnight outing will be underground as Troop 110 returns to participate in the Bluespring Caverns Overnight Adventure in Bedford, Indiana. Having eaten breakfast, Scouts should wear Class A uniforms and be ready to leave Sorrows at 9:00 am Saturday morning. We will be making a stop for a yet to be determined activity on the way to Indiana. We will check in at Bluespring and head down to the caverns early Saturday evening. The group will see the underground Myst'ry River by boat and then, led by staff, will explore (walk, crawl, climb) underdeveloped passages in the cave. After activities there will be a "lights out" and campers will sleep in bunks in the cave overnight. There will be breakfast in the caverns in the morning and Scouts will return to the light of day by 9:00am. The caving is described as "moderately strenuous" and in the past participants have definitely gotten wet and dirty.
Scouts are asked to bring sleeping bags and a change of dry clothes. Other items allowed are very limited. A specific list will be handed out as well as a paper permission slip that must be completed for each participant before we leave. The Caverns temperature is 52 degrees.
Attention- Sign-up is limited in number and must be completed by November 19th. We will keep a waitlist in case Scouts registered for the Outing need to cancel and are looking for a replacement. Adults- Since we only have a total of 26 spots for this unique and popular cave experience we would like to maximize the opportunity for Scouts to participate and therefore will have a separate sign-up for adults. We will need to have at least 3 leaders in the cave. If we have too many drivers sign-up we will need to give priority to those adults who can drive more passengers and refund money to adults we won't have spots for. Thank you in advance for your flexibility and understanding.
The Scouts will return Sunday at approximately 3 pm to the Maxfield Edu. Center parking lot, located across Raphael Street from the church. If you are not accompanying your Scout, please make sure that you leave a phone number where you can be reached that morning. Your Scout will most likely call when they are on the way home to give you a more exact time for pick-up.
Electronics use by Scouts is only allowed during travel to/from outings
